A basic level course covering the fundamentals of means-testing in the current Welfare Benefits system and under Universal Credit.
This half day course looks at the principles of means tested benefits, taking in both the current system and also as applied to Universal Credit. Participants will gain an understanding of the various premiums and additionals elements that make up Applicable Amounts and Maximum Amounts (Universal Credit). We shall then look at the tretament of income and savings and how these affect the amount of benefit actually paid.
This course will not cover the various conditions of entitlement to the different benefits.
Participants will need to bring a calculator as there is a strong practical element to this training, involving alot of case study examples to relate the theory to real life. This is a basic level course and your Trainer will be there to help the mathematically-challenged to gain confidence and understanding.
